About Orsted

Orsted (UK) Ltd was established in the UK in October 2008 but its origins stretch back to Danish state-owned Dansk Naturgas A/S which was founded in 1972.

The company was renamed Dansk Olie og Naturgas A/S (DONG) some years later and continued to trade under this name until 2017 when it completed its oil and gas business switching instead to renewable energy sources. In 2017 it changed its name to Orsted, named after the Danish scientist Hans Christian Orsted.
